Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a landmark policy change for Indian Railways passengers, confirming to NDTV that travellers with confirmed train tickets will soon be able to modify their travel date online without incurring any cancellation fees. “Passengers currently face a costly and inconvenient process. They cancel their ticket, which leads to deductions, and then they book a new one,” Minister Vaishnaw explained. “Starting January, we are changing that. Passengers can simply change the date of their confirmed ticket online without any fee.”
This new policy effectively eliminates the need for the cancellation-and-rebooking cycle, providing a substantial financial and logistical relief to millions of railway users.
