In a move that will bring immense joy to millions of pilgrims, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has announced plans to throw open the doors of the Ram Parivaar (Ram Darbar) to all devotees. Located on the first floor of the grand Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, the darshan of the divine ensemble—comprising Lord Ram, Mata Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman—will soon be accessible to general pilgrims, moving beyond the current restricted entry system.
Ending the Restriction: Access for the Common Man
Since the inauguration of the Ram Parivaar idols in June 2025, access to the first floor has been strictly regulated. To manage the massive surge of pilgrims and ensure security, the Trust currently allows only Sugam Darshan and Vishisht Darshan pass holders to visit the Ram Darbar.
However, recognizing the growing demand from thousands of “normal” devotees who travel long distances for a complete spiritual experience, the Trust is actively working on a logistical framework to allow everyone to ascend to the first floor. This move aims to democratize the spiritual experience, ensuring that every devotee, regardless of their pass status, can seek the blessings of the entire Ram Parivaar.
The Divine First Floor: What Devotees Can Expect
The first floor of the temple is a masterpiece of Nagara-style architecture, specifically designed to house the Ram Darbar.
- The Idols: The central sanctum on this floor features a majestic idol of Lord Ram in his kingly form, accompanied by Mata Sita, his devoted brother Lakshman, Shatrughan, Bharat, and the quintessential devotee, Lord Hanuman.
- Architectural Grandeur: The pillars and ceilings of the first floor are intricately carved with scenes from the Ramayana, providing a narrative backdrop to the darshan.
- The Experience: Unlike the ground floor, which focuses on the ‘Bal Roop’ (child form) of Ram Lalla, the first floor celebrates the ‘Sarkar’ or the royal court of Ayodhya, symbolizing justice, family values, and ‘Ram Rajya.’
Crowd Management and New Security Protocols
The primary challenge in opening the first floor to the general public is the sheer volume of visitors. Ayodhya has seen a record-breaking footfall since the start of 2026, and the Trust is taking cautious steps to prevent stampede-like situations.
The Trust is currently evaluating:
- Dedicated Entry/Exit Ramps: To ensure a smooth flow, separate staircases and ramps are being designated for ascending and descending traffic.
- Time-Slot Management: There are discussions about implementing a free token system for general devotees to stagger the crowd throughout the day.
- Enhanced Security Screening: Additional security personnel will be deployed on the first floor to guide pilgrims and prevent overcrowding in the sanctum area.
Strategic Expansion of the Temple Complex
The opening of the Ram Parivaar darshan in Ram Mandir coincides with the nearing completion of the second floor and the surrounding ‘Parkota’ (perimeter wall). The Trust’s vision is to make the temple a multi-layered spiritual journey. While the ground floor remains the heart of the temple with the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ idol of Ram Lalla, the first floor serves as the cultural and social heart, representing the ideal family and governance.
A Boost to Ayodhya’s Pilgrimage Tourism
Industry experts believe that opening the Ram Darbar to all will further increase the “stay-time” of tourists in Ayodhya. “When devotees know they can visit both the ground and first floors without needing special passes, they are more likely to spend an extra day in the city,” says a local hospitality entrepreneur. This is expected to provide a significant boost to local hotels, guides, and the transport sector.
Official Timeline and Announcements
While the Trust has confirmed the intent to open the first floor soon, an official date is expected to be released following a final security audit by the local administration and the temple’s internal security wing. Devotees are advised to keep an eye on the official website of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra for real-time updates and to avoid falling for unauthorized “VIP Darshan” scams.
As the city of Ayodhya continues its transformation into a global spiritual capital, the inclusion of the general public in the Ram Parivaar darshan marks another step toward fulfilling the dreams of millions of Ram Bhakts.
